Mission

Mission of RFYGBA:
Through trust, communication and mutual respect, we will create and maintain a working partnership with the River Fall High School Girls’ Varsity program, the River Falls area community and other youth athletic associations in our area. Through this partnership we will provide opportunities and support the ongoing participations in the game of basketball. We will establish an environment where learning the fundamentals of the game will be stressed at each level of the program. We will also maintain a positive environment for every child involved, with the opportunity for competitive play.

Guidelines
The association’s efforts are ultimately directed at the development of players for a successful high school program. This development includes individual skills, team skills, sportsmanship, understanding of the rules, and the value of hard work.

Philosophy
  • Basketball is an extension of life- hard work, discipline, teamwork, and attitude will determine success.
  • Enjoyment of the game of basketball and making lasting positive relationships between players and parents is something that we should not forget is critical to our success.
  • Practice offers the best opportunity for individual fundamental skill improvement. These skills should be taught and stressed at every practice, at every level of basketball in our association. Don't focus on results. Emphasize form and effort.
  • Developing every player involved in our organization is a priority. Individual fundamental skill development is the most important aspect of the game that our association will focus on. We also place a high value on team concepts, but without individual skill development, our organization will not be working towards the guidelines outlined above.
  • While playing in games is an important part of developing into a good basketball player and team, the number of practices is far more important than the number of games. Teams will compete in at most 4 weekend tournaments.
  • Players and parents must understand that equal playing time in games is not a goal of this association. It is our belief that playing time is earned during practice. Those players that work hard, come to practice, listen to their coaches, and show that they have the ability to perform when in a game will get playing time.
